BHCC: A Major Source of Transfer Students
Did you know that Bunker Hill Community College is actually the largest source of transfer students to UMass Boston? Approximately 300 students make that jump each year, and UMass Boston’s doors swing open to welcome over 1,500 new transfer students annually, more than any public university in Massachusetts!
The joint admissions program specifically benefits a diverse group of students, including urban residents, first-generation college students, immigrant families, and those who are considered post-traditional learners. This makes for a truly inclusive initiative that caters to the needs of a broad spectrum of the community.
Streamlined Transitions for Students
Under this new agreement, students have the unique opportunity to apply to both UMass Boston and BHCC at the same time. This means a much more streamlined transition process, easing the worries of students who might find the current system a bit daunting. But that’s not all! Bunker Hill students will now have access to a variety of UMass Boston resources, including a UMass Boston Student ID, Wi-Fi, athletic events, andStudent Life programming. They can even utilize the Beacon Fitness Center and access the Healey Library resources.
Students graduating from BHCC with a GPA of 2.0 or better (excluding competitive programs) can breathe easy knowing they are guaranteed admission to UMass Boston. On top of that, the program includes fee waivers for enrollment deposits and merit scholarships of up to $2,000 per year for eligible students! That’s a tremendous boost for many aspiring scholars.
